Deputy President William Ruto has alluded to knowing that the land that his Weston Hotel sits on was illegally acquired.
Speaking on BBC HARDtalk show hosted by Stephen Sackur, DP Ruto said he innocently purchased the land from its original owners, who he alleges could have illegally obtained it.
The DP however assured Sackur that he is doing everything in his power to rectify the issues around it.
DP Ruto however avoided the question by requesting his host to move on past it.
“Preparations have been made constitutionally to restore that land to Kenya Civil Aviation Authority by demanding that those who sold the land to us must pay,” Ruto stated.
“We may leave that topic for now as that is a big story…,” The DP stated.
Sackur further pushed the DP to setting the record straight on how much he is worth as well as the source of his wealth.
Ruto and his host also engaged in a back and forth conversation discussing the DP’s wealth.
The DP responded stating, “That information is available in public domain. I encourage you to Google and find out what William Ruto owns. I am prepared to tell you where to find that information, Sackur.”
The DP is in thew UK where he was giving a key note speech at the Chatham House in London on February 8, 2019.
