Ivy Wangechi, the slain Moi University student who was brutally murdered in Eldoret, last week was today buried in her parents’ rural home in Mahiga, Nyeri County.
The 25-year-old trainee doctor who had just finished ward rounds was slashed on the left side of her neck and face before the attacker, Naftali Kinuthia attempted to run away.
The suspect, Naftali Kinuthia who has since been arraigned in an Eldoret court, claims that he and Ivy were in a relationship and she rejected him.
The ceremony began at noon after pallbearers carried Ivy’s body into Mahiga Primary for a requiem mass attended by hundreds of mourners including political leaders.
Leaders who attended the emotional sendoff include Murang’a women Rep Hon. Sabina Chege, Nyeri Woman Representative Rahab Mukami, Othaya MP Gichuki Mugambi, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua.
