Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has accused County Senator of focusing on dethroning him in 2022 instead of his mandate as a Senator.

The governor said this when he appeared before the Devolution Committee of the Senate over a petition by the Senator.

Sonko further dismissed the petition by Sakaja  saying his failure to appoint his deputy is a non-issue.

Sonko said The Supreme Court advisory opinion is not binding and there is no legislation compelling him to appoint a DG.

“I nominated Miguna Miguna but the Assembly rejected. I showed goodwill and then again no Legislation compels me to appoint a DG.” he said.

“We want to improve the situation. We are not in a fight. “Senator Sakaja interjected.

The governor however stated he is still consulting and plans to nominate a new person are in the works  after the handshake.
