Senator Mutula calls out ‘silent’ NEMA after Oil spillage in Makueni

Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has called out on the government to help clean an area in Kiboko, Makueni County after diesel spillage.

The Senator on Tuesday morning stated that NEMA,  a body mandated with coordinating various environmental management activities, has given the incident a blind eye despite complaints by leaders and residents.


“I visited the diesel spillage site in Kiboko Makueni . The new pipeline is barely a year old .Nema has turned a blind eye to this incident for unexplained reasons . The site is next to a spring that supplies water to thousands of residents.”

The incident started  early this month and according to Mutula is next to a spring that supplies water to thousands of residents.

Efforts to reach to the environmental body were futile as calls went unanswered and emails were not responded ti.
