Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom is a national football tournament for male and female youth aged between 16-20 years with an aim of transforming their lives by giving them a platform to showcase their talent and an opportunity to earn from their passion.

The tournaments that have been happening across all 8 regions in Kenya recently moved to North Eastern Region for the much hyped semis.

Determined Coaches

However, things were different from other regions; the finals were moved from the original venue, the Garisa University, to Town Primary School due to heavy rains that pounded the area overnight rendering the university ground unusable.

“We don’t think there will be much problems with the changes, the teams just need to adjust to the new venue,”

“We have had a tough game today with high temperatures, but the boys have done their best. We are expecting a hard-hitting match tomorrow in the finals, but we are ready. Our dream is to win national finals and we will put our energy towards this,” Berlin FC coach Ahmed Mohamed stated.

High Temperatures

Due to high temperatures experienced in the same region, the other semi between Al Ansar from Wajir and Jamia FC from Mandera was played in the evening.

“We have had a tough game today with high temperatures but the boys have done their best. We are expecting a hard-hitting match tomorrow in the finals but we are ready. Our dream is to win national finals and we will put our energy towards this,” said Ahmed Mohamed, Coach Berlin FC.”

On top of that, the competitions in this region did not feature the girls’ category due to the community’s cultural practices and beliefs.

This year, an All-star team will be selected from the 8 regional finals to attend a training camp in Spain during which they will play against local youth sides.

Safaricom has previously sponsored football programmes including Sakata Ball and Safaricom Next Generation in partnership with My Profession Dreams Academy.

Others sports that Safaricom is involved in are Athletics, Golf, Rugby and the Classic Safari Rally.
